Anne's Huddle and Karen's Hurricane and Hill.
Elaine showed her magnificent tapestry of the Nicola Valley. My pictures do not do it justice. Elaine makes her own looms, to fit the size of each tapestry. She sits her loom on an adjustable ironing board to change the height of the loom as she weaves.
All of the warp ends are woven back into the tapestry. Joins of yarn are incorporated into the weaving. A strip of heavy cotton was sewed at the top of the back of the tapestry and Velcro was stapled to the cotton. This method over came the difficulty of sewing Velcro. The matching piece of Velcro, glued or stapled to a board would be hung on the wall for easy hanging of the tapestry.
Elaine does not like to use blue in her tapestry sky. This is a close up of the sky with its multitude of colours. Depicting the sky can be difficult (I think) and Elaine's sky is a complete success.
Anne's two tapestries are inspired by the Galloping Goose Trail and waterways in Victoria. Do you see the pumpkin patch? Anne used wool tapestry yarn and embroidery floss resulting in lovely vibrant colours.
