July 2016

Peace Country Spinners and Weavers remain active in the summer too.

Linda's rug is the third weaving project that she has completed.  Linda is a potter too.  She makes very good use of the Artspost weavers' and potters' studio in Fort St. John.

Rhya has begun weaving a blanket at Artspost.  This very bright striped warp has resulted in unconventional, unexpected but very successful choices in weft colour and texture.

Again at Artspost, Norma is determined to weave a runner with the red and green warp that is not Christmas.  She is weaving with green and purple.  It is a very pretty combination that my picture does not reflect.

Euphemia McNaught 2 Day Homestead Festival

On behalf of the McNaught Homestead Preservation Society this is an
invitation to artists and craftspeople to come and share in our 2 day
festival on July 23rd and July 24th at the Homestead site, located 5km south of Beaverlodge, Alberta, on Hwy 722 (Elmworth Hwy).

Please share this with any new artists you may know who may enjoy
becoming part of our art displays/demos which have been a part of the
festival since we started in 2003.

If you are interested in being an "artist on site" selling/ displaying
or demonstrating your medium,  please contact our Program Coordinator
Lori Dalgleish @
780-354-8836 (res) 780897-2746 (cell) or 780-354-8356
(office) or via email:
lori_dalgleish@live.ca

We are also interested in having a DISPLAY in the schoolhouse/ studio
building on site with any paintings, drawings etc. of the Homestead site
and in particular the Lake...If you have any pieces which you would
like to display please let Lori know to make arrangements for this.

This year we are having the opening ceremony for the Boardwalk at the
Lake at 2 p.m. on Sat. July 23rd  at which time it will be officially
open to the public.  Following the opening, there will be a BBQ supper
served on site and we would love to have some artists on site that day
as well as the usual Sunday festival day.

Please consider this an opportunity to advertise your work and network
with new people and old friends...One of Euphemia McNaught's many
goals was to create opportunities for artists to share, become more
widely known and to exhibit their work.  Camping is available for
event artists on site (self contained camper/motor home units are
welcome)

Hoping you can join us on site  and please let any friends who are new
to the Peace Country art scene know about our venue and event....!

Please check our website  for more details on our project and history
